Grells spawn in the Nether and out of Nether Portals.
Grell spawners can be found in Aberrant Stations (Lycanites Dungeon) and Dungeons (Vanilla).

Grells could be based off the Cacodemon from Doom 3, as they feature a very similar design (although this is not confirmed)
